About Saltstate
Saltstate Marine Services provides premium vessel care for owners who want their boat maintained to a high standard without the hassle of managing multiple providers. Whether you need regular upkeep, a refit project overseen, or technical installations completed properly, Saltstate offers a single point of contact and dependable workmanship.
Saltstate was founded by Ross Brownlie, a qualified boat builder with extensive experience across the marine industry. Early in his career, Ross crewed on superyachts in Europe, gaining first-hand exposure to the high standards of workmanship, professionalism and service expected by premium vessel owners.
He later returned to New Zealand and worked at Gulf Harbour Marina as dockmaster and then Maintenance Manager, followed by his role as after-sales service manager for The Yacht Sales Co. This depth of technical and operational experience means your vessel is supported by someone who understands quality, reliability and the practical realities of boat ownership.
When he’s not looking after clients’ boats, Ross enjoys sailing the Hauraki Gulf with his wife and daughters, kitesurfing and paddle-boarding along the Hibiscus Coast, or working in his workshop at home.
